Depowering The Boomers
What does it take to unseat one of the most popular politicians in the world? Shenanigans. But, putting aside that can of worms, what it takes is a rallying of Boomers. That’s the lesson we can take from Thomas Massie’s loss to some uncomely no-name in Kentucky. A lot more people turned out to vote in May 2026; 57% more. The majority of them were over 65. They voted for the no-name because Fox News told them to.
This hit home for me that the Boomers are the reservist army of the status quo. They must be depowered.
Disclaimer
Before I go on, I want to point out that I have a lot of respect for the generation born 1945-1965. They worked harder than foregoing generations.1 They strove to innovate and to overcome. The Boomers reached a level of skill in music and moving-images which will be unmatched for centuries, maybe more. Every generation has good and bad.
The bad in the Boomers
The Boomers shit on everything I hold dear. The environment... citizenship... home ownership... I could go on, but I try not to let this blog spread out too thin. I try to keep the scope trained on totalitarianism. In this narrower scope, the Boomers are the ones who push debt-slavery on the young and cry out for censorship. “You will own nothing and be happy and keep your mouth shut.” The Boomers also fall prey to pro-war propaganda. Nothing has been worse to behold in my lifetime than the woe meted out on Palestinians, Libyans, and Iraqis.2 Many of the Boomers cheered this on.
The need to depower
Nothing personal. Things are getting worse at a faster rate. Do we keep letting a gang guard the brig of the ship while we head towards an iceberg?
The sources of Boomer-power
To depower something, one must first work out the sources of that power.
Boomers get their power from...
- ownership of assets;
- centrality of messaging;
- relatively good health;
- a habit of voting;
- cushiest pension scheme in history.
The overall strategy
This is no easy feat. For example, the cushiest pension-scheme in history is due to taxes, but even moreso to a bedded-in financial system that yokes everyone to the stock market.
For all of my tips, keep in mind that I believe in the (so-called) futile gesture.3
The Anti-Boomer tactics
Vote
Will it do any good? Probably not. One must try.
Rank at the top issues that affect the youth; I dare say that making entry-level housing cheaper is a deal-breaker. If none of the candidates are worthwhile, you should still show up and spoil your vote with a political slogan.4
Taxes
Time to say “no.”
Here’s the rub: The Boomers have worked hard for sure, but they have also weaponized the government to help. Things like exclusionary gentrification,5 bank-bailouts, and the crushing of small brick-and-mortar stores during the pandemic of 2020-2, have cheated the free-market system.
Stop paying so much tax. I don’t mean you should break the law. There are legal ways to channel your taxes away from the government.
Dismiss, don’t debate
Debating a Boomer is a waste of time. You can’t upend a lifetime of propaganda. Even worse, their brains have been expunged of the normal, critical faculty; Operation Mockingbird and so forth.
I will flesh this out with a recent anecdote. When Argentina came back from 0-2 down to beat Egypt in the Soccer World Cup, I was having a nice conversation with a Boomer and I said something like: “I’m starting to get a bad feeling... like this is too much a Messi-fairy-tale. I wouldn’t be surprised if Argentina wins the whole thing. There are people online who think the whole World Cup is rigged.”
“You believe all the conspiracy theories,” the Boomer replied.
I was just bringing up a theory. The Boomer’s reflexive snapback betrayed the dogmatic way they think. If you say to a Boomer “I’m 70% sure that’s true,” the Boomer just hears “that’s true.”
Never debate. Dismiss! Say: “whatever, Boomer.” Walk out of the room if you need to. A heated debate does neither of you any good.
Defund the corporate media
Don’t pay for subscriptions to the big newspapers or TV channels. Do your tiny part to help the Boomers’ media die out.
Now, a disclaimer. As much as I hate The New York Times, CNN, and their ilk, I worry that a world without them might be even worse. I wrote about it here.
At this stage, however, I’d be keen on risking any of the outcomes.
You will have little effect. Subscriptions aren’t the main source of income. C.P.G. and F&B6 industries pump in so much money.
What’s more effective is that, when a Boomer mentions Fox News or The New York Times, laugh and say “nobody under 60 believes those liars anymore.”
Eat healthily
The Boomers grew up eating healthy food and then let their children eat toxic crap.
Millennials and Zoomers can’t stand up to the Boomers if they’re weak from Diabetes and Crohn’s Disease.
I don’t want to get into the debates over diets. I think folk get too fussy. Eat natural food with a bias towards protein. You can’t go wrong.
After all, an army, like a serpent, travels on its stomach.7
Go peacefully into retirement, you Boomers!
I don’t wish the Boomers harm. To be honest, sometimes I do— I’m not proud of that. Most of the time, I want them to be put out to pasture. In the bliss of their retirement villages, may the talk flow bountifully about Ford Mustangs and melanomas which turn out to be benign. I wish them more time left than they might have. I fear that an experimental medical treatment which they avidly took a few years ago might do a more brutal job of depowering than anything mentioned herein.
